Hi there! Welcome to my home near the banks of the Bogue Lusa Creek in south Louisiana. Have a cup of coffee, grab a rocking chair sit a spell and let me tell you a bit about this place.

The name "Bogue Lusa" is Choctaw for "Smokey Waters", thus the name of my site. This slowly meandering stream winds through the yellow long leaf pine forests of southeastern Louisiana and empties into Pearl River, which in turn, empties into Lake Ponchartrain north of New Orleans. The city of Bogalusa, also known as the Magic City, lies along either side of the creek.

Bogalusa was founded in 1906 by the Charles Goodyear family of Buffalo, N.Y. and its main purpose was to cut the virgin timber in the area. The timber was cut by the Great Southern Timber Company, which at that time was the largest saw mill in the world, the area was re-forested, and then in the early 1930's, the saw mill sold out to Gaylord Container Corporation which became the largest pulp paper mill in the world. It has since changed hands several times, but still remains a pulp paper mill making brown kraft paper and corrugated boxes.

At one time the city boasted a population of 25,000, but when hard times fell in the 1960's, the population dropped to about 14,000 and has remained fairly steady since.

But, to learn more about my family and my interests, please visit my pages. There are quite a few, so if you don't get through all of them on this visit, do plan to return soon. I'm constantly working on new pages and will be adding more soon. Since I've lost my site more than once due to computer crashes, I'm starting all over from scratch, so if you go to a site and its not there yet, please return...it will be there shortly.

I am not adding a guestbook at this time, so if you do pay me a visit, please use the "email" button at the bottom to send me a brief note to let me know you were here, and please, tell me a bit about yourself. I love getting email and I promise that I will answer you! Thank you for coming and hope you will return soon.
